Drain Cleaning in Delaware, OH

Clogged Drain? We'll Clear It.

A slow shower drain is annoying. A main line backing up into the basement floor drain is an emergency. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Delaware clears every kind of clog across Delaware and Union counties, from a single kitchen sink to the main sewer line, and we can show you on camera what caused it.

We're The Punctual Plumber. If we're late, we pay you $5 a minute, up to $300.

Drain Services We Offer

Sink, Tub, Shower and Toilet Clogs

Hair, soap, grease, food and the occasional toy. We clear the clog without damaging your pipes or fixtures, and we'll tell you if the same drain keeps giving you trouble for a reason.

Main Line Drain Cleaning

If more than one drain is slow, water comes up in a floor drain, or toilets gurgle when the washer drains, the problem is usually in the main line. We clear it from the cleanout and get your whole house draining again.

Hydro Jetting

Cabling punches a hole through a clog. Hydro jetting scours the whole pipe with high-pressure water, clearing grease, scale, sludge and roots from wall to wall. It's the best option for recurring clogs and heavy buildup.

Camera Inspection

When a drain keeps clogging, we run a camera down the line to see exactly what's going on: roots, a belly in the pipe, a crack, or a broken joint. You see the video, and you get a straight answer about whether cleaning will fix it or the pipe needs repair.

Floor Drains and Laundry Drains

Basement floor drains and laundry standpipes clog more than most people realize, and a backed-up floor drain is often the first sign of a main line problem. We clear them and check the line behind them.

Signs You Need Drain Cleaning

  • Water draining slowly from sinks, tubs or showers
  • Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
  • Water backing up in the basement floor drain
  • Bad smells coming from drains
  • More than one drain clogged at the same time
  • A clog that comes back after you clear it

Why Drains Clog Here

Tree roots. Mature trees in older neighborhoods in Delaware, Marysville and Powell send roots into sewer lines looking for water, especially through the joints of older clay and cast iron pipe. Roots come back, so a line with roots usually needs regular jetting or a repair.

Hard water. Minerals in our water leave scale inside drain lines and cast iron pipe over time, which catches grease and debris and narrows the pipe.

Grease. Cooking grease goes down as a liquid and hardens in the line. It's the most common cause of kitchen and main line clogs we see, especially after the holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use chemical drain cleaner?

We don't recommend it. Chemical cleaners rarely clear a full clog, they can damage older pipes, and they make the job dangerous for whoever clears the drain next. A plunger or a call to us is safer.

What's the difference between snaking and hydro jetting?

A drain snake, or cable, cuts a path through the clog. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to clean the whole inside of the pipe. Jetting lasts longer and is better for grease, scale and roots.

Is hydro jetting safe for my pipes?

For pipes in good condition, yes. We camera-inspect the line first when needed, so we know the pipe can handle it.

Why does my basement floor drain back up?

It's usually a clog in the main line, since the floor drain is often the lowest drain in the house. Stop using water and call us before it gets worse.

How often should I have my main line cleaned?

Most homes don't need it on a schedule. If you have roots in the line or a history of backups, jetting every year or two can prevent emergencies.

Can you tell me what caused the clog?

Yes. With a camera inspection, we can show you exactly what's in the line and whether the pipe itself is damaged.
