Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
Sunbury got its start in 1816 as a stagecoach stop. The town square and the 1868 Town Hall are still the center of things, but a lot has grown up around them. Sunbury is now one of the fastest-growing places in central Ohio, with new neighborhoods going up around the historic core, I-71 close by, and rural homes on acreage all through the Big Walnut area. That makes for a real mix of plumbing, and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Delaware works on all of it.
We go by The Punctual Plumber, and we back the name with cash. Every minute we're late costs us $5, up to $300, and that money goes to you.
Walk a few blocks from the square and you're in older houses that can still have galvanized supply pipe and cast-iron drains, both getting close to the end of their life. The newer subdivisions have a different problem. Those homes are young, but they've reached the age when the first builder-grade water heaters, sump pumps and fixtures need replacing. Past the city limits, many homes in the surrounding townships run on private wells and septic. Out there it's well pumps, pressure tanks, and treatment for iron, sulfur and hardness.
Inside the city, water comes from Del-Co Water and the City of Sunbury handles sewer. Del-Co water is moderately hard, so a softener is worth having to keep scale out of water heaters and fixtures. Most Sunbury houses have basements, which puts a lot on the sump pump and its battery backup. Our clay soil doesn't help either. Water sits instead of soaking in, and buried downspouts and yard drains clog and back up toward the foundation.
We work in Historic Sunbury and around the Town Square, in Rolling Hills, Price Ponds, Magnolia Park, Eagle Creek, Sunbury Meadows and Northstar, in Kintner Crossing and Miller's Cove, and on rural properties across the Big Walnut area. If your home or business is in ZIP 43074, we cover it.
Our Sunbury calls run from 19th-century houses near the square to brand-new builds to farmhouses on private wells. So we come ready for well pump and pressure tank work, water treatment for iron and hardness, and the first water heater and sump pump replacements in the newer neighborhoods. Every visit includes a check of your water pressure and the age of your major equipment, so you can plan ahead. Our trucks are stocked, and most calls are wrapped up on the first visit.
Before the first hard freeze, disconnect the hoses, drain the outdoor faucets, and protect any lines running to barns and outbuildings. If you're on a private well, keep the well cap sealed and don't let the pressure tank area freeze. Come spring, test the sump pump and its battery backup before the rain and snowmelt arrive. Flush the water heater once a year to clear out sediment and scale.

I have known and worked with John for many years. Recently, we had a major leak involving a failed water heater. John replaced it and also arranged and coordinated removal of water damaged drywall as well its replacement prior to installation of the new water heater. We are pleased with the outcome and appreciated his dependability and reasonable price.

Yes. We repair and replace well pumps, pressure tanks and pressure switches. We also track down low pressure, short cycling and no-water problems on rural properties around Sunbury.
The smell is usually hydrogen sulfide, and orange or brown staining usually means iron. Both are common in private wells. We'll test your water and recommend filtration or treatment that removes them at the source.
Once a house is around 8 to 15 years old, the first water heater, the sump pump and some fixtures often reach the end of the line. We check water heater age, sump pump condition and water pressure on every visit, so you can replace things on your schedule instead of after they fail.
If you still have galvanized supply pipe, watch for low pressure, rusty water or leaks that keep coming back. New pipe brings the pressure back and stops those failures. We can inspect what you have and walk you through the options.
Yes. We cover the whole 43074 ZIP code, including rural homes on wells and septic, along with the rest of our Delaware County service area.
