Lewis Center grew up around the railroad in the 1850s and takes its name from the Lewis family, who gave the land for the station. Today it's a big, busy community in Orange Township with more than 30,000 residents, bordered by the Olentangy River on the west and Alum Creek Lake on the east. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Delaware is based just up the road in Delaware.
We're The Punctual Plumber, and we put money on it. If we're late, we pay you $5 a minute, up to $300.
Lewis Center is a young community. In ZIP 43035, about 61 percent of homes were built in 2000 or later and most of the rest in the 1980s and 1990s. That means the repeat calls here are first-generation equipment wearing out: water heaters, sump pumps, pressure-reducing valves, supply lines and fixtures. Many homes have finished basements, so the sump pump matters, and a battery backup behind it matters more.
Orange Township lists Del-Co Water as the water provider and the Delaware County Regional Sewer District for sewer. Del-Co water is moderately hard, about 7 to 8 grains per gallon, and it leaves scale in water heaters, tankless units and fixtures over time. Central Ohio's clay soil drains slowly, so a clogged or collapsed downspout line can push water right back at the foundation.
Lewis Center calls tend to repeat. Water heaters and sump pumps near the end of their service life. High water pressure wearing out fixtures and valves. Hard-water scale. Buried downspouts backing up after a heavy rain. That's why our techs test your water pressure and check the age of your water heater and sump pump on every visit. You get time to plan a replacement instead of scrambling when something quits. Our trucks are stocked, and most calls are fixed on the first visit.
Before the first hard freeze, disconnect your garden hoses, shut off and drain the outdoor faucets, and insulate any pipes in unheated spaces. Test the sump pump and its battery backup before the spring rain and snowmelt. Flush the water heater once a year to clear out sediment and scale. If water pools near the foundation after a storm, have the buried downspouts checked.

Hugo arrived at my house within the window of time I was expecting which was helpful. I could tell he knew what he was talking about. He gave me several options including an option to finance the replacement of my hot water heater. In short, he was kind, courteous and professional.

I needed my 12-year-old water heater replaced soon and requested seven estimates. Two gave a verbal quote over the phone without seeing the job. I was not sure what I was getting or if they would add additional charges after they got the job. One was going to bring a water heater with them to replace it during the estimate process. One gave written quote that stated a price and description of “replace 50 gal water heater”. There were no details on the work to be completed. Benjiman Franklin Plumping’s estimate was the most complete on the work to be performed. Davy noticed issues with the current installation that was not to code that others missed. He spent the time explaining and answering my questions so I could understand what and why items were being done. Davy was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Although they were not the cheapest or the most expensive, they included everything to replace the water heater and bring in up to code within the estimate, with this I gave them the job. The installation was scheduled for the next day, Davy and Wilson arrived on time. The two worked well as a team completing the job beyond my expectations and to my satisfaction. The finished job looked so much better than the original installation. I am sure they are proud to be associated with their work. They cleaned up as they went so no mess was left behind. Job well done. Thanks Davy and Wilson

Brandon helped bring the pressure of our water down because it was way too high and added a filter to our ice maker so we don’t have so many calcifications in our ice! Brandon did a good job and was very nice. He cleaned up after himself and was always friendly. He was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had!
Most tank water heaters last 8 to 12 years, and hard water can cut that short. A lot of Lewis Center homes built in the late 1990s and 2000s are already on their second water heater. If yours is past 10 years old, rusting at the base or popping as it heats, have us look at it before it fails.
You don't have to have one. Del-Co water is moderately hard, though, and a softener cuts down on scale in water heaters, tankless units, dishwashers and fixtures. We'll test your water and tell you what makes sense.
Start with the sump pump. Make sure it works, and add a battery backup so it keeps running when a storm knocks the power out. Then look outside. Downspouts should carry water away from the house, and in our clay soil, clogged or collapsed underground downspout lines are a common reason basements get wet.
Somewhere between 40 and 60 PSI is typical. Higher than that, and faucets, toilet fill valves, water heaters and appliance hoses wear out faster. We test pressure on every visit and can replace a pressure-reducing valve that's failing.
Yes. That includes Lewis Center, the neighborhoods across Orange Township, and the rest of our Delaware County service area.
