Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
Galena began as a mill town on Little Walnut Creek. For most of the 20th century it was known for the Galena Shale Tile and Brick Company, which shipped brick across the country until 1983. When Hoover Reservoir was built in the 1950s, the village lost a third of its footprint. It kept its small-town downtown anyway, and today Galena sits at the center of a part of Delaware County that is growing fast. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Delaware covers Galena and all of Berkshire Township from our home base in Delaware.
We're also The Punctual Plumber. If we show up late, you get $5 for every minute, up to $300.
In Galena, a lot depends on where your water comes from. Across Berkshire Township, plenty of homes still run on a private well and septic. That means well pumps, pressure tanks, and water treatment for hardness, iron and sulfur.
Closer to town, it's more about the age of the house. Older homes near the village center can still have galvanized supply pipe and cast-iron drains near the end of their life. The new subdivisions have younger plumbing, but they're getting to the point where the first water heaters and sump pumps give out.
Most Galena homes have basements, and central Ohio clay doesn't drain well. A working sump pump with a battery backup, plus clear downspout lines, matters more here than most homeowners realize.
We work in the village center and downtown Galena, in homes along Hoover Reservoir, in the newer subdivisions around Galena and the Big Walnut school area, and on rural properties with wells and septic all across Berkshire Township. That covers all of ZIP 43021.
Before the first hard freeze, disconnect hoses and drain the outdoor faucets. If you have a water line running to a barn or outbuilding, protect that too. On a well, make sure the pressure tank area can't freeze. Test the sump pump and battery backup before the spring rain, and flush the water heater once a year.

I have known and worked with John for many years. Recently, we had a major leak involving a failed water heater. John replaced it and also arranged and coordinated removal of water damaged drywall as well its replacement prior to installation of the new water heater. We are pleased with the outcome and appreciated his dependability and reasonable price.

These guys were great, very friendly and courteous, showed up on time. I looked them up prior and they have a very good reputation. They’ve been in business for many years. Definitely would recommend to check them out for any of your local plumbing.
We do. Well pumps, pressure tanks, pressure switches, low pressure, no water at all. We take those calls all over Berkshire Township.
Sulfur causes the smell and iron causes the stains, and both are common in central Ohio well water. We can test your water and recommend filtration or treatment that fixes it at the source.
The original water heater and sump pump. They're usually the first to go, somewhere between 8 and 12 years in. We check both on every visit so you can replace them when it suits you, not in an emergency.
Yes, all of ZIP 43021 and Berkshire Township, including rural homes on wells and septic.
