Broadway grew up beside the railroad. When the Atlantic and Great Western line was built through Union County in the 1860s, it missed the planned town of Union Center, so business moved about a mile west to the tracks. Broadway was surveyed in 1865, and at its peak it had general stores, hotels, a grain elevator and its own newspaper. Today it's a quiet farming community on State Route 347 in Taylor Township, between Raymond and Magnetic Springs. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Delaware brings licensed plumbers to Broadway and the rest of the township.
We're The Punctual Plumber. If our plumber is late, we pay you $5 a minute, up to $300.
Broadway's few blocks hold some of the oldest homes in the area. Census estimates for its ZIP code put most of the houses before 1940. Out in Taylor Township, the picture changes: most homes were built from the 1970s through the 2000s, as families built on rural lots along the township roads.
Rural Union County homes generally rely on private wells and septic systems; the county counts about 9,000 private water systems. That puts the whole water system in the homeowner's hands, from the pump in the ground to the pressure tank in the basement. It also means water quality varies from one property to the next. Hardness and iron are common in Ohio well water, and they can wear down water heaters, fixtures and appliances.
Farm properties often have water running to more than one building. A barn hydrant, a shop sink or a line to a livestock waterer is one more place a pipe can freeze or a buried line can leak. When we come out, we ask about every place water goes on your property, not just the house. A single trip to check it all can save you a second emergency call in January.
Late fall is the time to walk the property. Check that yard hydrants drain back after each use, insulate exposed lines in barns and pump houses, and keep heat on any space where the pressure tank lives. Disconnect hoses from the house. In spring, look for wet spots in the yard along the path of your water line, which can point to a buried leak.

Hugo arrived at my house within the window of time I was expecting which was helpful. I could tell he knew what he was talking about. He gave me several options including an option to finance the replacement of my hot water heater. In short, he was kind, courteous and professional.
That odor usually comes from hydrogen sulfide in well water or from a reaction inside the water heater. We can test your water and recommend a filter, a water heater anode change or both.
Yes. Frost-proof hydrants can still freeze if they don't drain properly or the drain area is clogged. We can repair or replace them.
It depends on the pump, how hard it works and your water quality. Short cycling, low pressure or a pump that runs constantly are signs it's time for a check.
We work on the plumbing in the house and the drain line out to the tank. If the problem is in the tank or the drain field, we'll tell you and point you to a septic service.
Yes. We serve Broadway, Taylor Township and the rest of our Union County service area.
