Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of West Madison is hiring. We have open plumbing positions working out of our Verona, WI, office which will be servicing the Madison area - also think Middleton, Waunakee, and the surrounding communities, and we are looking to fill all of them.

Why This Opening Is Different

Most plumbing jobs in this market are backfills. Someone left, and the company needs a body in the van to cover a route that already exists.

That is not what this is.

Our West Madison location is brand new. That means no inherited callbacks, no legacy customer complaints, and no waiting for someone above you to retire before you move up. The people who join us now are the people who set the standard for everyone we hire after them.

It also means a real path forward. As we add trucks, we will need lead technicians and managers. We would rather promote the plumbers who helped us build the place than hire strangers to run them.

What We Are Hiring For

We have several positions open right now:

Journeyman Plumber, Madison. Full time residential service work. Wisconsin Journeyman Plumber license required.

Plumber, Verona. Full time, based out of our Verona shop on Liberty Drive. Licensing requirements depend on experience, so apply even if you are not sure you are a fit.

Plumber, Relocating to Madison. Same role, aimed at experienced plumbers outside the area who want to move to Madison. If you hold a license you can transfer to Wisconsin, we want to hear from you.

All three are full time, year round positions. None of them are seasonal, and none of them are contract.

The Pay

We are not going to be vague about money, because plumbers are tired of ads that are.

Base pay runs $38.00 to $50.00 per hour depending on license, experience, and service ability. 

On top of a healthy base pay, you earn:

  • commission on personal billed and collected revenue once you hit your weekly number
  • $10 for every five-star Google review that names you
  • An annual bonus tied to customer satisfaction

A productive residential service plumber should realistically land between $85,000 and $120,000+ in the first year. That is not a ceiling for someone who sells well and takes care of customers.

You will not be buying your own stock, running to the supply house three times a day, or working out of a van held together with hope.

What the Work Actually Looks Like

This is residential service and repair, not new construction. On a normal day you might:

  • Diagnose and repair leaks, drains, fixtures, and water lines
  • Install water heaters, including tankless and gas
  • Run drain cleaning, hydro jetting, de-scaling, and camera inspections
  • Perform whole home plumbing inspections
  • Handle repipes and water treatment installs
  • Present good, better, and best options so homeowners can choose with confidence

You will be in front of customers all day. We are a customer service company that happens to do plumbing, and the plumbers who do best here are the ones who can explain a problem in plain language and leave a homeowner feeling like they got dealt with straight.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A Wisconsin plumbing license, or one you can transfer to Wisconsin
  • Three or more years of residential service experience
  • Comfort with drain cleaning, jetting, and camera work. Repipe experience is a strong plus
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to pass a background check and drug screen

Just as important: we want plumbers who take pride in the work. Every one of our technicians carries the Punctual Plumber Promise, which means if we show up late, we pay the customer $5 for every minute we are late. That guarantee only works if the people behind it actually care about getting it right.
