Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
Dudgeon-Monroe is a charming, historic near-west Madison neighborhood strung along Monroe Street near the UW Arboretum and Lake Wingra, a walkable community of early-1900s homes, bungalows, and a beloved shopping and dining street. Its older housing gives Dudgeon-Monroe a distinctive plumbing profile, and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of West Madison serves it on time, every time.
On time, every time, if there's any delay, it's you we pay.
Every Dudgeon-Monroe home has access to our full range of plumbing services. The menu is the same across our entire west Madison service area, and each service links to the national brand page with full details:
Dudgeon-Monroe's older homes, many from the early twentieth century, often carry aging galvanized water pipe and cast-iron drains, making repiping and drain work common and worthwhile, and Madison led the nation in removing lead service lines (largely complete by 2011), so today's focus is updating aging pipe and older fixtures. Served by Madison's hard deep-well water, the neighborhood benefits from softeners and iron filtration.
The neighborhood's setting near Lake Wingra and the Arboretum brings a high water table to some blocks, so reliable sump pumps with battery backup and drainage matter against snowmelt and spring rains, and the deep-freeze winters threaten pipes in older exterior walls. Dudgeon-Monroe's mature trees send roots into aging sewer laterals, and the Monroe Street businesses rely on commercial plumbing.
The homes along Monroe Street and Knickerbocker · The blocks near Lake Wingra and the Arboretum · The areas near Edgewood and Vilas · The streets toward Regent and Nakoma · And the homes and businesses across Dudgeon-Monroe
Dudgeon-Monroe's historic homes get our full range, repiping aging galvanized pipe, sewer-root work under the mature trees, softeners, sump protection for the Wingra-area water table, and commercial plumbing for the Monroe Street businesses. Our stocked trucks resolve most calls on the first visit.
Dudgeon-Monroe's historic homes reward proactive care. Before winter, insulate pipes in older exterior walls and disconnect hoses; before spring, test the sump pump and backup given the Wingra-area water table. Watch for rusty water and low pressure (aging galvanized pipe), and have the mature-tree sewer lines checked for roots.

I wanted to share my appreciation for the excellent service Brandon and his team provided. Brandon arrived on time, responded quickly, and handled the work with professionalism, friendliness, and care. What stood out most was the speed and convenience of the service. Brandon assessed the leakage damage, cleaned the spout, scraped away the old caulk, reinstalled the area, and sealed it properly for waterproofing. Please extend my thanks to Brandon and his team for their reliable work and excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend their service and will call again for future needs.

I randomly found Benjamin Franklin Plumbing via a general Google search. I needed to have some work done on a shower in my home and I don't have a go to for plumbing. When I called I was met by the kind and helpful voice of Renee who put me on their schedule, and then followed up when an earlier opening presented itself, she ACTUALLY called me on the phone to try and update me. This was cool. Eric, their service technician came by my home and quickly assessed that Id actually need a contractor. He took video and found a contractor and SENT ME THE CONTRACTORS INFO. I told Renee afterwards that I hope I never need a plumber but if I do they will be my first call from here on out.

Growing family and we needed a plumber we could actually trust. Friends recommended Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Intown Atlanta and wow, so glad they did. They inspected our whole plumbing system (never even thought of it as a “system” before) and gave us multiple options with zero pressure. We’re having them back when we return from vacation to get some work done. Trustworthy, patient and easy to deal with. Thankful we found these guys!!

Very impressive people to be around.

Keith came promptly, worked quickly but we paid $709 for a water shutoff, and a small piece of PVC pipe under our sink that took 40 minutes to do. $210 of that was because it was an emergency visit.

Chase was exceptional!! Jared was so helpful as well!! This company came out to check our heating and cooling systems, clean our hot water heater, and patiently answered a bunch of our plumbing and duct-cleaning questions. As owners of an aging home, we truly trust them and deeply value their expert opinions on what updates we need. The level of professionalism cannot be surpassed! From wearing booties so they don’t drag dirt into the house to sending texts with pictures of the technicians before they arrive, every detail made us feel safe and cared for. We trust them completely with our home, will definitely continue doing business with them, and are already recommending them to all our friends. They are simply the best in the area!

The service was timely and professional. I really appreciate that Chuck treated my home with respect. He not only wiped his feet, but he put on booties to protect my floors. He did a thorough inspection before he gave me the estimate for the service needed. Because of his courteous explanation of what was needed to get the job done correctly, I would highly recommend him.

Needed emergency drain unclog- they were so professional when I called! Got someone here in less than an hour! And no crazy “emergency” charge! The plumber was a great guy! Again, professional and courteous! Brynt was very knowledgeable and efficient- fixed us right up! Company vehicle nice and clean, uniforms nice- hope we never need again- who wants plumbing issues?-but if we do, you can bet we will call them again for sure!!!
Often, yes. Early-1900s homes commonly have galvanized pipe that corrodes, plus aging cast-iron drains. We inspect and recommend repiping honestly, with care for a historic home.
It can. Some blocks near Wingra and the Arboretum have a high water table, raising flood risk, so a sump pump with battery backup and good drainage are important. We assess and install.
The neighborhood's mature trees send roots into aging sewer laterals. We camera-inspect, hydro jet, and use trenchless methods to repair or replace them.
Yes. The Monroe Street shops and restaurants rely on commercial plumbing, and we provide it with 24/7 emergency response.
Yes, around the clock, every day, with the On-Time Guarantee and no after-hours fees.
