Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
Shorewood Hills is a gracious, historic village on the shore of Lake Mendota, surrounded by Madison and known for its tree-lined streets, distinctive older homes, and lakeside setting near the UW campus. Finer, older homes call for careful, expert plumbing, and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of West Madison brings the expertise to match.
On time, every time, premium service backed by our promise: if there's any delay, it's you we pay.
Every Shorewood Hills home has access to our full range of plumbing services. The menu is the same across our entire west Madison service area, and each service links to the national brand page with full details:
Shorewood Hills' defining plumbing factor is its older, often grand housing: many homes date to the early and mid-twentieth century and may carry aging galvanized pipe and cast-iron drains, making repiping and drain replacement common and worthwhile. The village is served by hard Dane County groundwater, so softeners and iron filtration protect a fine home's plumbing, and the value of these homes makes precise, careful work essential.
The lakeside setting on Lake Mendota brings a high water table, so reliable sump pumps with battery backup and good drainage matter against snowmelt and spring rains, and the village's deep-freeze winters make frozen-pipe protection important, especially in older homes with pipes in exterior walls. Mature trees can send roots into older sewer laterals, calling for hydro jetting and trenchless repair.

Shorewood Hills' fine, older homes reward experience and care, repiping aging galvanized and cast-iron pipe, precise sewer and leak work, softeners, and sump protection for the lakeside setting, all delivered by a plumber who protects your home's character. We bring that with white-glove, on-time service.
Shorewood Hills' older, lakeside homes reward proactive care. Before winter, insulate pipes in exterior walls and unheated spaces and disconnect hoses; before spring, test the sump pump and backup given the high water table. Watch for the rusty water and low pressure that signal aging galvanized pipe, and have mature-tree sewer lines checked for roots.

I needed my 12-year-old water heater replaced soon and requested seven estimates. Two gave a verbal quote over the phone without seeing the job. I was not sure what I was getting or if they would add additional charges after they got the job. One was going to bring a water heater with them to replace it during the estimate process. One gave written quote that stated a price and description of “replace 50 gal water heater”. There were no details on the work to be completed. Benjiman Franklin Plumping’s estimate was the most complete on the work to be performed. Davy noticed issues with the current installation that was not to code that others missed. He spent the time explaining and answering my questions so I could understand what and why items were being done. Davy was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Although they were not the cheapest or the most expensive, they included everything to replace the water heater and bring in up to code within the estimate, with this I gave them the job. The installation was scheduled for the next day, Davy and Wilson arrived on time. The two worked well as a team completing the job beyond my expectations and to my satisfaction. The finished job looked so much better than the original installation. I am sure they are proud to be associated with their work. They cleaned up as they went so no mess was left behind. Job well done. Thanks Davy and Wilson

Brandon helped bring the pressure of our water down because it was way too high and added a filter to our ice maker so we don’t have so many calcifications in our ice! Brandon did a good job and was very nice. He cleaned up after himself and was always friendly. He was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had!

I have known the owner John for 15 years. He is very knowledgable about plumbing and can explain plumbing systems so well. He has given me great ideas and options when I am working on my house and I value his opinions and advice. Recently, I had a plumbing issue under the house and John took care of it. I am very happy with his work.

I’m gald to say that Benjamin Franklin in Palm Desert helped me install my water heater that failed. Luis and Hugo were very professional and kept the work area cleaned at all times even during the installation process. I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs in Coachella valley.

We had an old, barely functioning kitchen faucet replaced. The plumber (Brandon) was very professional and left the area very clean and dry. He also noticed some quirks in the plumbing in our 85 year old house (which also explained a water pressure issue we’d been having), letting us know what could be done to address it (& how much it might cost), should we choose to do something about.

Love them! On time, thorough, and informative. I tend to ask a lot of questions and they were more than happy to educate me. I’ve known the owner for over 15 years. Great guy. Ask for John.

Excellent service. Very timely and professional. Reasonable price
Often, yes. Older homes may have galvanized pipe that corrodes and restricts flow, plus aging cast-iron drains. We inspect for rusty water, low pressure, and recurring leaks and recommend repiping honestly, with care for a fine home.
Mature trees send roots into aging sewer laterals, and old cast-iron drains corrode. We camera-inspect, hydro jet, and use trenchless methods to repair or replace them.
It can. The high water table near Lake Mendota raises flood risk, so a sump pump with battery backup and good drainage are important. We assess and install.
Yes. The hard groundwater scales fixtures and water heaters; a softener and filtration protect a fine home's plumbing. We test and size it.
Yes. Around the clock, every day, with the On-Time Guarantee and no after-hours fees.
