Seals, washers and valves wear down and a leak is a waste of water regardless of local conditions. Performance is as much a matter of the home’s plumbing design and the condition of the pipes as anything else. If you are dealing with low pressure in one shower while the rest of the house is fine, the issue can be put down to the fixture or valve. But when several fixtures are not up to snuff, you have to look for the cause elsewhere in the system.

In much of Forsyth County, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Inspections Division has jurisdiction over the permitting and inspections for building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing work. This extends to Winston-Salem, Clemmons, Lewisville, Rural Hall, Tobaccoville, Walkertown and some areas beyond, although High Point, Kernersville and King operate under their own jurisdictions. The city-county application for a residential permit will cover alteration and repair. Whether a permit is needed is a function of the scope of the project; a minor fix is not the same as work that involves adding new lines.
