Bathtub Repair
There is no reason a bathtub should be anything but a place to unwind. Yet too often it becomes the source of leaks, sluggish drains, and other plumbing aggravations. At Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of the Triad, we are here to put an end to that with comprehensive bathtub repair for faucets, water lines, fixtures, tub connections, water pressure issues, and more.
Before you sign on for a major bathroom remodel, one of our plumbers can determine what is truly amiss with a tub that is leaking or has poor pressure, or even if it is time for a replacement.
Given that a bathtub packs a number of plumbing components into a confined space, trouble can crop up in the faucet, valve, drain, overflow assembly or in the supply pipe and spout. There are also the connections out of sight behind the wall. We handle all of this as part of our plumbing services for both tubs and showers, from clogged drains to damaged fixtures.

Leaks in particular call for prompt attention. It is easy for water to go unnoticed until it has made its way behind the tile, under the tub, or through the ceiling below.
It is worth noting that these are not always the same thing. Refinishing, or reglazing, is a cosmetic fix for a surface that is chipped, stained or simply looking its age; it can give a tub new life without the demolition of a full removal. But if you have a failed valve or a loose fixture, you need a plumbing repair. The distinction is important. If the tub’s looks are the only issue and the plumbing is sound, a surface-restoration contractor may be your best bet. If there is a leak underneath, refinishing will do nothing to solve the root cause. Indefinite repairs are not always practical. If the unit is badly damaged or the plumbing behind it requires a lot of work, replacement makes more sense. It is especially true in some of the older homes in historic parts of town like West End and Ardmore where galvanized plumbing may have deteriorated over the years. Putting in a new fixture gives us the chance to inspect the supply lines and valves that have been hidden away for decades.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Utilities puts the average hardness of the local water at 17.5 ppm for 2025, so you will not see the kind of mineral buildup found in areas with hard water. That said, cartridges and other parts will wear down with time. And if you are seeing reduced flow at both the sink and the tub, the issue likely goes beyond a single fixture.
A straightforward repair is one matter, but moving a drain or reconfiguring the water lines is another. For any substantial changes to the plumbing layout, the Inspections Division of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County will want to review the work in accordance with North Carolina codes. As licensed contractors we can put in for trade permits via the BuildIT system. Proper professional installation ensures everything from the overflow to the supply piping is fitted correctly before the room is put back in service.
Our climate is another reason not to let a leak go unattended. With daytime highs in the summer running to 87 and plenty of rain year round, the humidity can turn a small problem into mold or wood rot if moisture gets behind the bathroom surfaces.
