John Ruiz
Master Plumber
John Ruiz is a lifelong Southeast Texas resident, born in Houston and raised in Baytown. He attended San Jacinto Elementary School before continuing his education at Baytown Junior School and later Gentry Junior High School. During his school years, John was active in both football and basketball, eventually attending Ross S. Sterling High School, where he continued competing in both sports before graduating.
At just 15 years old, John became a father, a life-changing experience that motivated him to begin building a career in the plumbing industry. While attending high school, he split his days between school and work, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong profession.
In 1989, John began his plumbing career with H&H Plumbing in Baytown, Texas, where he worked for 15 years. During that time, he had the privilege of learning from respected plumbers John Hughes and Donny Hughes. They taught him not only the technical aspects of plumbing but also the importance of customer service, professionalism, and treating every customer with respect. John believes in leaving every work area as clean—or cleaner—than he found it and taking the time to listen carefully to each customer’s concerns.
Over the course of his 37-year career, John has gained extensive experience in residential, commercial, new construction, and industrial plumbing. His passion for the trade extends beyond his own work, as he enjoys mentoring and teaching younger plumbers, helping the next generation develop their skills and professionalism.
When he’s not working, John enjoys fishing and spending quality time with family and friends.
Today, John serves as the Master Plumber for Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Baytown, Texas, where he takes pride in delivering exceptional service and being part of a company he is proud to represent.
