Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
University City surrounds UC San Diego and the UTC commercial district in north-central San Diego. It’s a vibrant, varied community of mid-century single-family homes in the south, condos, apartments, and high-rises near UTC, and the biotech and business campuses that anchor the area. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of San Diego serves all of it.
On time, every time: if there's any delay, it's you we pay.
Every University City home has access to our full range of plumbing services. The menu is the same across our entire central San Diego service area, and each service links to the national brand page with full details:
University City's housing splits between two types. The first type is the established mid-century homes south of Governor Drive, often on slabs with aging galvanized water lines and prone to slab and copper pinhole leaks. The second type is the denser condos, townhomes, and apartments near UTC. That mix means everything from whole-home repiping and slab leak detection in the single-family neighborhoods to fixture, water heater, and shut-off work in multi-unit buildings.
San Diego's hard imported water makes softeners and filtration worthwhile across the community. The area's elevation can call for pressure regulators, and seismic water-heater strapping matters along the nearby Rose Canyon Fault. The UTC commercial district, biotech campuses, and high-rises also rely on dependable commercial plumbing, where failures can disrupt business.

University City's blend of single-family homes, condos, and commercial buildings fits our full range: repiping and slab leak detection for the older homes, fixture and water heater service for condos and apartments, and commercial plumbing for the UTC district. Our stocked trucks resolve most calls on the first visit.
Across University City, plumbing care is year-round and conservation-minded. Watch for slab and pinhole leaks in the older homes, service and seismically strap water heaters, flush them yearly for the hard water, and in condos keep shut-offs and fixtures in good order. Businesses benefit from a maintenance plan.

Tanner was neat and very knowledgeable. He flushed the water heater, checked all toilets and sinks. We told him about a toilet issue and he was able to fix it while here saving us a fee. A very good company for your plumbing needs.

We have used Ben Franklin Plumbing for years. They are always prompt and professional. We had an issue with our water heater that they installed two years ago. When they arrived, we discovered it was only batteries that needed to be replaced on the water overflow sensor. They replaced the batteries (I now know to do it yearly) and didn't charge me for the service call. You don't get this type of service any more from most companies that provide home services. I highly recommend using Ben Franklin for all your plumbing needs.

Michael Mayes was extremely helpful in this process of replacing a sewer line fix. There team did a great job in fixing my problem and reassuring me everything was done correctly. They were very good at keeping and respecting my property's landscaping. I was very pleased with the whole process of the project they did.

Eric is very knowledgeable and gave me preventative tips. He gave me a few suggestions and quotes to help maintain a working plumbing system. Eric is a very nice person and a valued employee. Should I have any future issues (I hope not) I would like to request Eric to assist. Thank you, Norma Lang
