Poncey-Highland takes its name from the corner of Ponce de Leon and North Highland Avenues, and it was built between 1905 and 1930. Briarcliff Plaza, home to the 1939 Plaza Theatre and the Majestic Diner, sits on Ponce. Manuel's Tavern has anchored North Highland for decades, and the Carter Center stands on the hill where the Copenhill neighborhood was cleared for a highway that residents stopped. The BeltLine runs along its western edge. Our shop is just north on Lambert Drive.
We're The Punctual Plumber, and we put money on it. If we're late, we pay you $5 a minute, up to $300. And with flexible financing on larger jobs, the right repair doesn't have to wait.
Emergency Plumbing: Burst pipes, sewer backups, water heater failures, gas smells and no-water calls, including nights and weekends.
Sewer Line Camera Inspection & Repair: Poncey-Highland's homes and small apartment buildings are about a century old, and clay and cast-iron laterals are common. We camera the line and repair only what needs it.
Small Apartment & Multi-Unit Plumbing: Repairs, water heaters and drain work for duplexes, quadplexes and older apartment buildings, with service for owners and property managers.
Water Heaters & Tankless: In a bungalow or an older apartment, the water heater usually takes up a closet you'd rather have back. A tankless unit mounts on the wall, delivers hot water without running out, uses less energy because it isn't keeping a tank hot around the clock and typically lasts around 20 years, against 8 to 12 for a tank. We handle the gas line upgrade, and financing is available.
Repiping: Replacing galvanized and aging copper supply lines in homes and small buildings.
Water Filtration & Whole-Home Water Quality: In-home water testing, whole-home filtration, under-sink drinking water systems and sediment protection for water heaters, for better water at every tap and longer-lasting plumbing.
Drain Cleaning & Hydro Jetting: Kitchen, bath and main-line cleaning, with hydro jetting for grease and roots.
Commercial Plumbing: Restaurants, bars and shops along Ponce and North Highland: grease lines, water heaters, restroom fixtures and backflow devices.
Gas Line Installation & Repair: Gas lines for ranges and water heaters, plus testing of older gas piping.
Leak Detection: Finding hidden leaks in walls, floors and shared lines.
Fixtures, Faucets, Toilets & Disposals: Repairs and replacements in homes, units and businesses.
Poncey-Highland mixes 1910s and 1920s bungalows with small historic apartment buildings, newer condos near the BeltLine and a busy commercial strip along Ponce and North Highland. Many homes have been divided into units or converted back, so one building can have several water heaters and a tangle of old and new lines. Older apartment buildings often share a single sewer lateral, so one clog can affect every unit.
Water and sewer come from the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management. The issues here are age, roots and heavy use: corroded galvanized pipe, clay laterals and grease in lines serving restaurants and busy kitchens.
Your water is treated by the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management to meet federal drinking water standards. But by the time it reaches your tap in Poncey-Highland, it has traveled through miles of city mains and then through your own pipes, and in century-old homes and apartment buildings where old supply lines serve several units, that last stretch matters. When we test water in Intown homes, we regularly find the taste and smell of chlorine-based disinfectants, along with sediment and rust from aging pipe.
That affects more than your drinking glass. It's the water you shower in, brush your teeth with, wash clothes and dishes in and cook with. Sediment also wears out the equipment you've paid for, including water heaters, tankless units, faucets, dishwashers and washing machines, and shortens the life of the plumbing itself.
Every visit we make includes a free test of your water for chlorine, and we'll show you the results before recommending anything. If you want a fuller picture, ask about testing for sediment and other issues too. Your options include:
Whole-home filtration: Filters every tap and shower in the house, reducing chlorine taste and odor, sediment and rust, for better water for bathing, washing and cooking, and less wear on pipes, fixtures and appliances.
Drinking water systems: Under-sink reverse osmosis or carbon filtration for cleaner-tasting water for drinking, coffee and cooking.
Sediment protection for water heaters: A sediment filter ahead of a tank or tankless water heater helps it run efficiently and last longer.
Whether it's a sewer lateral for a small apartment building, a repipe or a tankless upgrade, the cost doesn't have to land all at once. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Intown Atlanta offers flexible financing with monthly payment options, subject to credit approval.
You'll see the up-front price first, then choose how to pay. Ask your technician about financing on any job, or apply on our financing page before your visit.

Poncey-Highland calls often involve more than one household. A shared main line that backs up into the lowest unit. A water heater in an older duplex that serves two apartments. A restaurant drain that slows on a busy weekend. That's why our techs check the main line, water heaters and shutoffs on every visit, and tell owners which problems affect the whole building. Our trucks are stocked, and most calls are fixed on the first visit.
In Poncey-Highland's older homes and small apartment buildings, one problem can affect several households. Call us if you notice:
A backup in the lowest unit of a shared building
Rusty water or low pressure in older apartments
Grease-related slowdowns in a restaurant or busy kitchen
Slow, gurgling or repeatedly clogged drains
More than one fixture backing up at the same time
Hot water that runs out early or never gets hot enough
Damp spots, stains or a water bill that rises for no clear reason
On time: We arrive in the window we promised, in clean uniforms with shoe covers, or we pay you $5 a minute, up to $300.
Diagnosis: We find the root cause, using a high-definition camera on drain and sewer lines when needed.
Free water test: Every visit includes a free chlorine test of your water, with the results explained on the spot.
Up-front price: You get the exact price, with good, better and best options and financing available, before any work begins.
Clean finish: We complete the work and clean up before we leave.
There's no single price, because cost depends on where the problem is, how severe it is, the materials and the repair method. Clearing a shared main line is a quick visit. Replacing a lateral that serves a whole building or repiping an older fourplex is a bigger project, and owners can finance larger jobs. Either way, you'll see the full price before we start, with no meter running, and larger jobs can be financed with monthly payments, subject to credit approval.
The On-Time Guarantee: If we're late, we pay you $5 for every minute, up to $300.
Up-Front Pricing: You see and approve the price before any work begins. No meter running.

We had our water heater repaired and had a new water filter system installed after the technician suggested it. He was friendly and factual. After his visit we had to have another repair man to set the water heater temperature. Now it is working fine.

A full gas water heater installation -- quick install with courteous service. Jon Hare and Luke Stelly gave excellent advice and were finished with the install in less 3 hours (including purchasing the unit itself)! Thanks!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Service! Highly Recommend! I highly recommend Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for all your plumbing needs, big or small! I recently needed to have a pop-up sink drain assembly replaced, and Bryson J. was the technician sent to assist me. Bryson was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and courteous throughout the entire process. He completed the repair efficiently, made sure everything was working properly, and left my bathroom clean and tidy afterward. It's refreshing to receive such excellent customer service! I am a new widow navigating a stressful plumbing issue. I met with Nick. He was the 3rd Plumber I was meeting that day. From the start he was friendly. Shook my hand. Asked what the problem was. I said I had a slow leak from the meter to my house but had no idea where it was. He explained how we could handle this issue. This is the 4th or 5th leak I have had! I decided to go for the full replace. It would be guaranteed for 15 years. So I did. Tripp and Nick showed up and both were professional, friendly and polite. They did an excellent job. Tripp went so far to get rid of the big black spider right next to my shut off valve in my basement! Goes above and beyond. After the repair they reseeded and laid down straw! From Adam in the office to Nick and Tripp was beyond pleased with the service. This company cares about their customers and it shows. Thank you Adam,Tripp and Nick!

Just had an old broken water heater replaced (30 to 50gallon) by Michael Gladstein. From The moment my wife and I met him, we felt confident in the entire company, appreciated his professionalism, how he took the time to clarify different options, notice we could have a larger tank; when other companies didn’t even give the option because the old tank was a 30g on second floor, with small space. He then installing it himself the next day with excellence. Really showing care for our home by through clean organized work, and his craftsmanship. Michael did great work from beginning to end! What’s stood out to me was that between the three quotes we got, Benjamin Franklin had the most competitive pricing. Only a few more Benjamin‘s difference for higher quality! Other companies quoted prices close to what Benjamin Franklin did but offered less. Highly recommend.

Jacob with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing was absolutely fantastic! He showed up on time, was courteous, knowledgeable, and made me feel like I could actually trust a plumber in my house—which, let’s be honest, is sometimes harder to find than a leak! 😂 He was so great that even my dog liked him, and my dog is usually a pretty good judge of character. If he passes the dog inspection, you know he’s good people! 🐾 Professional, trustworthy, and friendly from start to finish. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, give this man a raise—or at least let him know he’s officially been approved by the household security team! Would absolutely recommend Jacob. 10/10 stars, two thumbs up, and one very happy dog! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

They came out and inspected the old water heater and able to explain what was needed to bring a new one up to code, and while they were here they were able to shut off the gas valve to the hot water heater (which was antique) for my safety. They also told me what was needed for new duct work to the furnace. Very professional.
