Tired of running out of hot water? Is your water heater constantly running into problems? A water heater replacement is the solution, and our team is ready to walk you through the process. Most water heaters last around 6-12 years, but it's not uncommon to upgrade to a newer model if you have an undersized tank for your hot water needs. If you think it might be time to replace your current water heater, let us know! Our experienced plumbers can take a look and give you our honest opinion. If a new water heater makes sense, we'll walk you through options that make the most sense for you and your home.
Did you know that a professionally installed and professionally sized tankless water heater installation means virtually never running out of hot water again? It's true! Instead of using a tank and continually heating and re-heating water, a tankless water heater heats the water as it passes through the unit only as needed. That means much less wasted water, not running out of hot water, and much higher energy efficiency. Plus, tankless water heaters are much smaller in size! If you're interested in upgrading to a tankless water heater, simply reach out to our expert plumbers today.

Water heaters are built to withstand daily usage. Unfortunately, due to the stress of repeated use, nearly all appliances will require repairs at some point. Regular maintenance and inspection can help prolong the life of your water heater. One common issue we see is sediment build up. Over time the minerals in your water supply can settle at the bottom of your tank and reduce its efficiency. While this issue can be fixed by flushing the sediment out of the tank, other common problems require repairs or replacements. Damage to values or the tank itself is not uncommon. You may also be experiencing loose connections, which are impacting your water heater’s function. Whatever issue you’re experiencing, our licensed plumbers have seen it all—and are happy to help get your hot water working again.
The lifespan of your water heater will depend on the type you have and how well it’s been maintained. Gas and electric water heaters usually last 8-10 years. While tankless style water heaters can last 20 years or more. Whatever type of water heater you have, you should have it inspected annually to extend its lifespan as long as possible. However, all appliances eventually need to be replaced. Increasing water bills without any additional usage can be a telltale signal something is wrong. You may notice you don’t have the same available amount of hot water. Inconsistent or low water pressure can also be signs that your water heater is struggling to keep up. If you hear strange noises or see visible leaks around your unit, be sure to call a professional right away.
As a water heater ages, its efficiency may be impacted. While most traditional water heaters can last a decade or more, frequent repairs can add up. Ultimately, if the cost of repairing your water heater is more than 50% of the cost to replace it, we generally recommend replacement over repairing. Replacing your water heater can mean improved energy efficiency, higher hot water capacity, reduction in repair bills, and more reliability. Our team of licensed plumbers operates with a strict code of ethics. We strive to do what’s best for the customer. You can count on us to discuss your repair or replacement options honestly.

It’s rare to find such a professional and helpful team. Don is fantastic to deal with, and Cam is equally impressive. They are both genuinely good, stand-up guys who go out of their way to be kind. Highly recommend them based on character alone!"
Kevin Ryan
This is the second time in two weeks that we’ve called these guys for a plumbing need. They came out the same day and replaced the house PRV, which also fixed at least one other plumbing leak in the house. Cam is friendly, professional, and fast. We will continue to use these guys for future Plumbing needs.

Kyle was fantastic. My water heater started leaking and it was about 20 years old, so it was definitely time for a replacement. Kyle arrived right on time, explained everything clearly, and answered all of my questions without rushing. The whole process was smooth and professional, and I’m very happy with the new installation and the service overall. Highly recommend!

I am very pleased with the repair of my sewer line by Aaron Preston and his team. The bid was far below the other competition and then with the money saved I had him replace both bathtubs faucets. And still was cheaper than Bud's bid. We are happy to have Benjamin Franklin as our new plumbers

Both Ilija and Dylan were great! Ilija first came as we did not have hot water. He handled that problem efficiently and then checked all 4 bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Ilija identified quite a number of items that needed replacement and since our home is older it was very good to be made aware of those issues. Dylan then came a couple of days later and fixed all of the problems in one day! He worked all day and did an excellent job while treating our home with respect and went above and beyond to help us. Excellent company and Ilija and Dylan both super!!

We had a water leak; Ben Franklin responded quickly and repaired the leak on February 2, 2026. The 1st technician noticed a few other areas of concern. This being are secondary home, we thought it a good idea to have these issues addressed. We scheduled the balance of the repairs to be completed on another date. The 2nd technician repaired the balance of the issues. Both Kevin and Marshall were on time and great to interact with! We did have a stumble on the billing side, but this matter was resolved with a call to Elliott. Thank you to all!
Dan Miller
Steve was great and had more than enough expertise to assess our issue and get it quickly resolved. Had the parts needed and was professional throughout. Ben Franklin is our plumber of choice because of one great experience after another.

Kyle was super helpful and knowledgeable. He not only installed our new garbage disposal with quality but he answered any questions we had and explained any process with us. I highly recommend him Benjamin Franklin plumbing.
To keep your water heater running smoothly in Nashville, it’s a good idea to flush the tank once a year to clear out sediment, especially if your area has hard water. Check the pressure relief valve, inspect for rust or leaks, and make sure the thermostat is set to a safe temperature (usually around 120°F). Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your unit and keeps your hot water flowing efficiently. For peace of mind, consider scheduling a professional inspection with a local plumber.
If your water pressure suddenly drops or only affects certain fixtures in your Nashville home, it could be a sign of a clogged pipe, leak, or a problem with your water supply. Try cleaning faucet aerators first, but if the issue persists, it’s best to call a licensed plumber in Nashville to diagnose and fix the problem before it gets worse.
We are available 24/7 to take your call for emergencies. Our appointment hours are listed above.
For most homes in Nashville, scheduling professional drain cleaning once a year helps prevent clogs, odors, and costly backups. If your property has older pipes, large trees nearby, or frequent slow drains, you may need service more often. Regular maintenance keeps your plumbing flowing smoothly and protects your home from unexpected issues.
We work built relationships with several lenders to ensure our customers are able to restore functionality in their homes. Ask your technician about your financing options.
Yes! Upgrading to low-flow toilets, water-saving showerheads, and high-efficiency faucets can significantly reduce water use in your Nashville home. You can also install smart leak detectors and tankless water heaters for added efficiency. A local plumber can recommend the best options based on your home’s setup and water usage habits.
Older homes in Nashville often face plumbing issues like corroded or outdated pipes, low water pressure, and frequent leaks. You might also encounter problems with old fixtures, sewer line deterioration, or poor drainage. A professional inspection can help identify hidden issues and recommend upgrades to keep your plumbing system safe and efficient.
To get your plumbing ready for winter in Nashville, start by insulating exposed pipes, especially in unheated areas like basements and garages. Disconnect outdoor hoses, shut off exterior water lines, and check your water heater for optimal performance. It’s also smart to know where your main shut-off valve is in case of a frozen pipe emergency.
Signs of a damaged sewer line in your home include frequent drain clogs, foul odors, soggy spots in your yard, and gurgling sounds from your toilets or drains.
