Named Forbes' Top Ranked Plumbing Company of 2024!
Meldrim is a small, rural community in Effingham County along the Ogeechee River, west of the Savannah metro, surrounded by woods and farmland. It's country living through and through and country plumbing, which is exactly what Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of Savannah Metro is built to handle.
We bring big-league service to this rural community, on time and guaranteed: if there's any delay, it's you we pay.
Every Meldrim home has access to our full range of plumbing services. The menu is the same across our entire Savannah metro service area, and each service links to the national brand page with full details:
Meldrim's rural setting means most homes rely on private wells and septic systems rather than public water and sewer. Well-pump and pressure-tank service is a core local need, and coastal Georgia's Floridan Aquifer groundwater is often hard, iron-bearing, and prone to a sulfur (“rotten egg”) odor. Treatment after a water test is among the most-requested work to protect pipes and fixtures and improve taste and smell.
Septic systems are the norm on Meldrim's rural lots, shaping how we handle drain and waste-line issues. Homes range from older country houses with aging pipe to newer rural builds and manufactured homes. The low-lying ground near the Ogeechee River and heavy summer storms make drainage worthwhile, and being well outside town makes fast, capable, single-visit service all the more valuable.
The Meldrim community along Old River Road and U.S. 80 · Rural properties near the Ogeechee River · Homes toward Bloomingdale and Guyton · The farms and woods surrounding the area · The western Effingham County countryside
Remote, rural homes deserve the same prompt, professional plumbing as any suburb. That's our promise to Meldrim: genuine well-and-septic expertise, treatment for hard and sulfur-prone water, and full-service plumbing. Our stocked trucks finish most jobs in one trip, which matters this far out.
Country homeownership rewards routine. Test your well water periodically and keep treatment and the pressure tank maintained. If you're on septic, mind what enters the system and act on slow drains. Before storm season, check low-area drainage, and during the occasional winter freeze, protect exposed and long pipe runs.

Tanner was neat and very knowledgeable. He flushed the water heater, checked all toilets and sinks. We told him about a toilet issue and he was able to fix it while here saving us a fee. A very good company for your plumbing needs.

We have used Ben Franklin Plumbing for years. They are always prompt and professional. We had an issue with our water heater that they installed two years ago. When they arrived, we discovered it was only batteries that needed to be replaced on the water overflow sensor. They replaced the batteries (I now know to do it yearly) and didn't charge me for the service call. You don't get this type of service any more from most companies that provide home services. I highly recommend using Ben Franklin for all your plumbing needs.

They were very good at keeping and respecting my property's landscaping. I was very pleased with the whole process of the project they did.

Eric is very knowledgeable and gave me preventative tips. He gave me a few suggestions and quotes to help maintain a working plumbing system. Eric is a very nice person and a valued employee. Should I have any future issues (I hope not) I would like to request Eric to assist. Thank you, Norma Lang
Most Meldrim homes are on private wells and septic. We service well pumps, pressure tanks, treatment, and septic-aware drains, and we really do drive out this far.
Yes. That odor is hydrogen sulfide, common in coastal Georgia well water along with iron and hardness. After a water test, we install the right treatment to remove it.
Yes. A failed pump means no water, so we prioritize it, diagnosing and repairing or replacing the pump, pressure tank, and switch.
Yes. With septic the norm here, we diagnose and resolve drain and waste-line issues with that system in mind.
Yes, around the clock, every day, even out in rural Effingham County, with the On-Time Guarantee and no after-hours fees.
