High-quality water right from the tap in your Grand Rapids home doesn’t have to be complicated or confusing. With help from our plumbers at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing®, you can install a whole-home water treatment system that removes minerals and impurities from your water supply, making every sip, shower, and scrub that more satisfying. How does water treatment work at home? Our trained specialists will test your home’s water quality to determine what contaminants, minerals, or impurities are present. From there, we’ll design a personalized water treatment plan for your home.
Homes in our area are plagued by hard water, or water with a high degree of mineral content (such as calcium and magnesium). With a water softener installation, you can combat hard water and treat your home to better-tasting water that is easier on your skin, hair, and appliances. Why is hard water bad for appliances and plumbing? The high mineral content clogs pipes and plumbing systems, such as your water heater, with a buildup of minerals, reducing efficiency and shortening their lifespans. You can prolong the life of your plumbing system and appliances with a water softener installation from one of our trusted plumbers. We’ll walk you through the entire process, showing you how the water softener works and how you can maintain it. Ready to learn more about our water treatment services? Contact us today!

Homeowners know that winter in Grand Rapids can come with its share of plumbing challenges. Water heaters can struggle to keep up with an increased demand, potentially causing a breakdown at the worst possible time. Frozen pipes can lead to bursts, in turn leading to flooding and water damage. Sump pumps and their discharge lines are also vulnerable to freezing, leaving homes at further risk of water damage during snowmelt or winter storms. Preparing your plumbing system with an inspection and routine maintenance can save you from catastrophe in the winter months.

We scheduled an appointment online on the Friday after Thanksgiving and received a call back right away. The representative explained the cost for a last‑minute Friday visit, but we decided to book for Monday instead. She also provided suggestions in the meantime concerning the leak. On Monday, the team arrived during the timeframe discussed with my husband which was around 10am, inspected the house, and explained their plan before starting the work. They replaced all of our copper pipes and had everything completed by 5 p.m. Before leaving, they carefully inspected their work, checked all the water lines, and made sure everything was functioning. The communication was clear, the work was thorough, and the professionalism great. Overall, we’re very satisfied with the service and would recommend them to anyone needing plumbing work done.

Great company and service!!!!. We started having trouble with our hot water- we inherited this tankless water heater- and it took some time for us to diagnose the problem. However, once we got in touch with Benjamin Franklin plumbing, they were phenomenal. Great communication, super quick response time, And they come service on the weekends! Brock was professional, kind and super helpful! He diagnosed the problem and ran through several options, before helping us navigate and make a plan. Matt was also great, he was professional, communicative, friendly and efficient. Both gentlemen resolved what could have been a much bigger problem with ease and efficiency. 10/10 would recommend to anyone

Overall I think Matt and Daunte did a great job. They were friendly and got everything setup in quick order. My only complaint was about the price of the job. They informed of the price when they were here and were upfront about it but I do think the company over charges for the a fairly simple project. Which is not the employees fault.

I cannot say enough positive things about Chris Austin resolving our plumbing issue of low water pressure in our townhouse. He arrived on time, quickly identified the problem part, explained what needed to be done, accomplished the task, and problem solved. It was like pressing the easy button, and I will definitely be calling again for any future plumbing issues. Thank you Chris and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Raleigh for fair pricing and excellent service!

To keep your water heater running smoothly in Grand Rapids, it’s a good idea to flush the tank once a year to clear out sediment, especially if your area has hard water. Check the pressure relief valve, inspect for rust or leaks, and make sure the thermostat is set to a safe temperature (usually around 120°F). Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your unit and keeps your hot water flowing efficiently. For peace of mind, consider scheduling a professional inspection with a local plumber.
If your water pressure suddenly drops or only affects certain fixtures in your Grand Rapids home, it could be a sign of a clogged pipe, leak, or a problem with your water supply. Try cleaning faucet aerators first, but if the issue persists, it’s best to call a licensed plumber in Grand Rapids to diagnose and fix the problem before it gets worse.
We are available 24/7 to take your call for emergencies. Our appointment hours are listed above.
