I had a great experience with Frank from Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. They were able to schedule us within a very reasonable timeframe and communicated clearly and consistently throughout the entire process. Frank arrived right on time, was friendly and professional, and took the time to explain everything step by step. Caleb Hines at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing saved the day when my shower would not turn off as a result of a broken handle. The company was quick to respond. Mr Hines was the first to arrive among the three companies I called. He explained the problem and the fix clearly and completed the job satisfactorily! Many thanks for the quick response in an emergency situation!

Anthony Griggs

I returned from work last night to find water all over the floor of my garage due to water leaking from my water heater which is located in the garage. I had to shut off water supply to the entire house as no water heater bypass was installed, I called Benjamin Franklin the next day and Heather sent Derek Johnson over and after inspection determined a new water heater was needed. He returned a few hours later with said water heater and installed with updates to plumbing to meet new codes and a bypass system if something happens in the future, he did a great job and I would recommend Derek and team!

Denise Marie

Fast, friendly, knowledgeable. Offered a range of options for garbage disposal problem, with no pressure to pick the pricier option. Plumber has 40 years experience. Very reasonable price. Will definitely use again.

Juan was extremely professional and very quick. He walked me through everything that he needed to do and walked me through how that would impact my costs and different things. I would need to know about my home in regards to plumbing. I would recommend Juan and Ben Franklin to anyone.

David Laboskie did a terrific job. Our kitchen sink stopped up on Sunday afternoon, just days before Christmas. David was able to come that afternoon. He unclogged the line very efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly so that there was no evidence of his work or the gunk that came out of the line. Besides his competence, David was also a very pleasant, friendly guy.

Plumbing FAQs

What routine maintenance should I be doing for my Charleston water heater?

To keep your water heater running smoothly in Charleston, it’s a good idea to flush the tank once a year to clear out sediment, especially if your area has hard water. Check the pressure relief valve, inspect for rust or leaks, and make sure the thermostat is set to a safe temperature (usually around 120°F). Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your unit and keeps your hot water flowing efficiently. For peace of mind, consider scheduling a professional inspection with a local plumber.

How do I know if I need a Charleston plumber for my home's low water pressure?

If your water pressure suddenly drops or only affects certain fixtures in your Charleston home, it could be a sign of a clogged pipe, leak, or a problem with your water supply. Try cleaning faucet aerators first, but if the issue persists, it’s best to call a licensed plumber in Charleston to diagnose and fix the problem before it gets worse.

Are there plumbing upgrades that can help conserve water in my Charleston home?

Yes! Upgrading to low-flow toilets, water-saving showerheads, and high-efficiency faucets can significantly reduce water use in your Charleston home. You can also install smart leak detectors and tankless water heaters for added efficiency. A local plumber can recommend the best options based on your home’s setup and water usage habits.

What are common plumbing issues in older Charleston homes?

Older homes in Charleston often face plumbing issues like corroded or outdated pipes, low water pressure, and frequent leaks. You might also encounter problems with old fixtures, sewer line deterioration, or poor drainage. A professional inspection can help identify hidden issues and recommend upgrades to keep your plumbing system safe and efficient.

What should I do to prepare my plumbing for winter in Charleston?

To get your plumbing ready for winter in Charleston, start by insulating exposed pipes, especially in unheated areas like basements and garages. Disconnect outdoor hoses, shut off exterior water lines, and check your water heater for optimal performance. It’s also smart to know where your main shut-off valve is in case of a frozen pipe emergency.

How can I tell if my sewer line is damaged in Charleston?

Signs of a damaged sewer line in your SC home include frequent drain clogs, foul odors, soggy spots in your yard, and gurgling sounds from your toilets or drains.
