Is a plumbing leak considered an emergency?

A plumbing leak is often considered an emergency because it can lead to a lot of wasted water and damage to your home. A burst pipe, for example, can release gallons of water into your home, requiring extensive repairs to your foundation, drywall, flooring or cabinets. If you have a plumbing leak, it's important to shut off your main water supply immediately to prevent further damage. Plumbing leaks can be very dangerous, so it's always best to call in the plumbing experts at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Bradenton to help you deal with the issue.

What are the most common plumbing problems?

The most common plumbing problems are clogged drains, running toilets, leaky faucets, and low water pressure. All of these problems can be frustrating and expensive to fix. Clogged drains are often caused by hair, soap, and grease build-up. Running toilets can waste hundreds of gallons of water every day. Leaky faucets can not only be annoying, but they can also waste a lot of water. Low water pressure can make it difficult to take a shower or brush your teeth.

How do you know if your plumbing is bad?

There are several signs that your plumbing may be in need of repair or replacement. One of the most obvious is a high water bill. If you notice that your water usage has increased significantly, it could be due to a leak in your pipes. Another telltale sign is stained walls or ceilings. This is especially common in older homes, as leaks can go undetected for years. If you hear strange sounds coming from your pipes, it could be an indication of a blockage. And finally, bad smells coming from drains or toilets are often a sign of a sewage leak.

What are the signs of a broken sewer pipe?

Slow drains are one of the most common signs of a broken sewer pipe. If water is no longer draining quickly from your sink, shower, or toilet, it may be because your sewer pipe is blocked. In addition to slow drains, a broken sewer pipe can also cause foul smells. If you notice a sewage-like smell coming from your drains, it's important to call a plumber right away. Mold or mildew growth can also be a sign of a broken sewer pipe. If you notice any mold or mildew in your home, particularly near your drains, it's important to have the situation inspected by a professional. Finally, pests can also be a sign of a broken sewer pipe. If you notice an increase in bugs or rodents in your home, it's possible that they're coming up through your drains.

Daniel Espinosa

Replaced the rotten cast iron drain pipes under the bathroom. Rodrigo and David dug down to the foundation and dug out the soil under the bathroom. Removed all the bad plumbing and replaced it with PVC pipe using code approved methods. Removed the toilet reinstalled it with all the proper parts, seating it to the floor with a solid fit. Properly re-connecting all the PVC pipes with clean out and after testing finished. Replacing all the soil removed from this project, it was leveled and removing all the debris and old bad plumbing. Your team Rodgrigo and David worked together like a smooth military operation, very impressive. They answered all my questions I had with a great attitude. All done in one day.

Plumbing FAQs

What routine maintenance should I be doing for my Bradenton water heater?

To keep your water heater running smoothly in Bradenton, it’s a good idea to flush the tank once a year to clear out sediment, especially if your area has hard water. Check the pressure relief valve, inspect for rust or leaks, and make sure the thermostat is set to a safe temperature (usually around 120°F). Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your unit and keeps your hot water flowing efficiently. For peace of mind, consider scheduling a professional inspection with a local plumber.

Try cleaning faucet aerators first, but if the issue persists, it’s best to call a licensed plumber in Bradenton to diagnose and fix the problem before it gets worse.

Yes! Upgrading to low-flow toilets, water-saving showerheads, and high-efficiency faucets can significantly reduce water use in your Bradenton home. You can also install smart leak detectors and tankless water heaters for added efficiency. A local plumber can recommend the best options based on your home’s setup and water usage habits.

What should I do to prepare my plumbing for winter in Bradenton?

To get your plumbing ready for winter in Bradenton, start by insulating exposed pipes, especially in unheated areas like basements and garages.
