Community Involvement in Omaha, NE

Since Scott Wood became general manager of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Omaha in 2021, he’s made giving back to the community a priority.

The business has supplied playground equipment to a local elementary school, and has partnered with Omaha’s annual Superhero Heart Run, which raises awareness and funds for children with congenital heart disease.

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Omaha, along with its sister company McCarthy’s One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning, has also supported numerous homeless shelters. During the summer of 2022, Scott donated 30 box fans and 1,890 bottles of water to the Open Door Mission’s Beat the Heat Drive. He has also donated thousands of hand and feet warmers to the homeless, and on the Benjamin Franklin Plumbing side, the team filled a truck full of toilet paper and donated it to a shelter.

During the winter, the One Hour team participated in Project Houseworks’ Warm the Metro, providing furnace maintenance checks and free repairs and replacements for low-income residents.

Over the holidays, Scott plans to sponsor a family in need, offering free repairs on plumbing and HVAC equipment, and to collect toys for the children of incarcerated people.

The accomplishments and more landed Scott on ACHR News’ 40 Under 40 list in 2022.

“The community has taken care of us for 53 years now, so we want to take care of them,” Scott says.

Scott and John were recognized from the Omaha Door Mission for donating 30 box fans and 1890 bottles of water. This was a beautiful donation out of true love for our community.

We have a service plan with McCarthy's and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing which gives us a discount with both companies for service calls and emergency service as well as a sense of security knowing that things will be inspected by a professional at least once a year and addressed before the worst of the weather hits us. Our first year we had our water heater replaced and upgraded. The technician was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, he not only got the job done but helped us learn as homeowners what was going on in our house and what steps we needed to take immediately, in the near future, or whenever we felt ready in order to accomplish our own goals for our home and keep things running smooth and safe. This year after implementing lots of changes we had more questions and were met with extremely knowledgable answers again by another technician. After our now years of experience with McCarthy's One Hour Heating and Air, it wasn't really a surprise to me that that their sister company would deliver the same extraordinary level of knowledge and service to my door step. I've been in customer service roles my entire adult life and strongly believe in going above and beyond for your customer and providing them with the best service you are capable of every time. It is VERY hard to find companies that meet my expectations in taking care of their customers, but I can say with complete confidence that McCarthys and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing have both exceeded my expectations 100% of the time. The most important quality for me with any business is how we are treated. Every technician that has entered our home has done so with respect, compassion, honesty, and integrity. Not one of them has seemed to be in a bad mood or disgruntled in any way. It is almost unbelievable the quality of service that we receive and we are and will remain loyalists for that alone. I highly recommend them. Andrew Logan was our technician this time around and I loved that he asked us questions about our house and functionality in order to be able to provide us with knowledgable answers to our questions and offer us insight on things we have not been able to figure out on our own yet.
