Diy Plumbing Repair | Leaky Faucet

Have you ever been woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a dripping faucet? It can sound like the loudest noise ever created to a light sleeper in a comfortable bed! This easily fixable problem is very common to plumbers in Houston and all over the country. If you would like to try to manage a leaky tap before you call your trusted plumber, here are some helpful tips.

  1. First, you need to turn off the water to the tap. Under the sink, probably in a cabinet there are knobs to stop the water to the individual sink. If they are not present, they might be in the basement. Turn the water off and open the faucet to relieve the pressure.
  2. You then need to remove the plastic faucet cover. It can probably be pried loose with a flathead screwdriver. Remove the screws and don’t lose them!
  3. Disassemble the washer faucet screws and nuts until you locate a black rubber washer. To save yourself some time, take these parts to a hardware store and find replacement washers. You may need to cut away some of the rubber to remove it completely. Then carefully reassemble the faucet and turn on the water to test your success. It should move easily and not leak.
