The Value of a Licensed Houston Plumber

Do you know what it takes to become a licensed plumber in Texas? Plumbers in Houston and any other city in Texas must follow a path of excellence dedication to receive certification before starting to work. This guide can help you get started, or help you choose one of the best plumbers.

First, you must register with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners as a plumbing apprentice. There are various levels of plumbing licenses, usually requiring several thousand hours of plumbing work and the passing of exams before reaching the master level.

Second, you will need to find an apprenticeship and register as one in Texas. You can find an apprentice registration form on the Board of Plumbing Examiners website here. You will need to complete at least 4,000 hours of work as a registered apprentice under the supervision of a licensed plumber and master plumber. There are several licenses you can work to obtain such as tradesman plumber-limited, journeyman, plumber, master plumber, med gas piping installation, plumbing inspector, water supply protection specialist, and more.

Third, you will need to register and study for the Tradesman Plumber application and pay the required fee. You will need to pass the test in order to obtain your license to become a one of Houston’s licensed plumbers.
