Baking Soda Drain Treatment

It’s that time of the year again! Many of you in the Houston area are planning a holiday trip. There are a lot of things to think about; traffic, air fares, and so much more. It seems the last thing we think about is our drains!

You come back from home, and enter your kitchen only to be greeted by a foul odor. Not exactly the type of homecoming you were expecting, was it? Fortunately there is a simple solution, and it can be found in just about every Houston kitchen.

Baking Soda

This little miracle worker can do so much to ensure domestic bliss. From freshening your refrigerator to stain removal; there is little this unsung hero can’t do. Add one more use to the laundry list, because your kitchen comrade is about to come through for you again.

Sink Drain Treatment

Before you shut the door for your holiday trip, apply a liberal amount, approx. 2 Cups, of baking soda to your kitchen sink drain. The baking soda will do the same job it does in the fridge, but this time it will keep your dormant drains fresh while you’re away for the holidays. Upon your return, simply flush with hot vinegar and a few quarts of boiling water. Your kitchen sink drain will be as fresh as the moment you left!

Garbage Disposals

Baking soda will also keep your garbage disposal fresh while you’re away from home. You should use less than ½ cup of baking soda, though. Your garbage disposal plumbing is slightly more delicate than your sink drain, for this treatment. However, you should still flush with hot vinegar and boiling water.

When you leave for your holiday trip, follow these simple steps, and you will have the freshest drains and plumbing in the Houston – Sugar Land area.
