There are, perhaps, only three absolutes in life: death, taxes, and the clogging of pipes. Clogged pipes and sewer lines are a pain, which is why we’ve taught you how to best avoid them, cleared up some common misconceptions that can make your problems worse and taught you how to clear them up yourself if need be. Even if you nurture your home’s pipes with great tenderness and care, however, there are still plenty of situations where your pipes will clog. A lot of times, the root cause of a clog will be something you don’t have any control over.
It’s frustrating to admit, but as your plumbing system ages and is used, it will naturally accumulate clog-causing debris. That’s why the plumbing industry developed hydro jetting pipe rejuvenation. In addition to sounding like one of Aquaman’s powers, hydro jetting is a process that uses state-of-the-art technology to simultaneously remove any and all obstructions from your pipes and sewage line AND deep-clean your pipes, removing buildup. Think of it as a spa treatment for your house’s plumbing, if that simile works for you. When you have a professional give your pipes a hydro jetting treatment, your plumbing system will be as clean as it was when it was new–maybe even cleaner!
How It Works
The tool used in hydro jetting is a hose that resembles a much longer version of a plumbing snake. This metallic hose is very thin and flexible, and hooks up to a source of pressurized water. The hydro jetting tool is threaded directly into the plumbing system through an access point such as a drain. The device contains a tiny fiber optic camera on its head, which the professional technician will use to inspect the pipes and sewer line as they thread the tool through. By using this camera, the technician can identify exactly what’s causing the clog while at the same time getting an idea of the general condition of your pipes.
Once the clog is identified, the technician will activate the tiny jets installed on the head of the hydro jetting device. This will shoot a directed blast of hot water at up to 8,000 psi’s of pressure. The targeted water will break up any obstructions in the pipes or sewer line, reducing even large obstacles like tree roots to a slurry which will travel out of the system easily. Pressurized water this strong can also blast away buildup on the inside of pipes, deep cleaning your system to prevent future clogging.
Why You Should Consider It
The great thing about a hydro jetting service is that it takes care of a lot of problems at once. Not only does it remove any clogs, it cleans out the whole system to prevent future clogs. It’s also the best way for a technician to perform a “check up” on your pipes and sewer lines. If there’s any damage in your plumbing system, we’ll see it with the hydro jetting tool’s camera.
Hydro jetting is also easier on pipes, generally, than snaking or using a different kind of a de-clogging tool. Rotating blades or mechanical snakes can cause damage to the inside of pipes. With hydro jetting, your technician can identify problematic locations in your system before the cleaning process begins. If the technician is afraid treating that area would damage the pipe’s integrity, they can work around it instead. It’s also much less invasive and dangerous than chemical treatments, which Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® of Dallas doesn’t recommend.
Most importantly, hydro jetting is simply extremely effective. The camera can actually see the problem. You get to watch your pipes get cleaned out until they look brand new. You get a complete look at your plumbing system and can accurately identify any problems. Think of a clog as a blockage in an artery. The hydro jetting pipe rejuvenation treatment is the plumbing equivalent of high-tech surgery. In some ways, it’s even better; unlike surgery, we don’t have to open anything up!
