So if you’re hosting a game watch party this month, there are precautions you should take to ensure that a toilet malfunction or clogged drain doesn't ruin your or your guests’ fun.  And Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® is here to help!  Make sure your game watch is the talk of the season with the tips below.

  • Party hosts should be aware of what guests are flushing down the toilet, and if it’s a weaker plumbing system, let them know what the toilet is capable of flushing down.  Some of the most common items that are flushed that should never be flushed include cigarette butts, sanitary napkins and facial tissues.[1]
  • Clogged drains can range from a minor annoyance to a major plumbing problem, and severe clogs can run up to hundreds of dollars to be repaired.  Keep an eye on your drains, and make sure they’re clear and clean before any guests arrive.
  • A commercial drain-cleaning product should be a last resort to unclog a drain. These products contain caustic chemicals, and if used improperly, they could be hazardous.[2]
