LOCAL PLUMBER WOULD HAVE MADE BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PROUD

09/24/14

Historic site has plumbing emergency. Benjamin Franklin Plumbing® in Dayton steps up to do the job for free.

In just a few days hundreds of people are expected to visit the Iams Homestead Museum and property in Trotwood for the annual harvest festival. It is the biggest event of the year for the historic site. But right now there is a big problem at the property. One of the buildings, which has the handicapped accessible bathrooms, has no running water. The water line is not working and has to be replaced. It is an expensive job. Members of the board of the historical society say it would have been a hardship to pay for. That’s when Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Dayton came to the rescue.

This weekend the water line will be replaced for free. Employees with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing will donate their time, the company will donate the materials. The total cost of the work would have been about $2600. “Benjamin Franklin, one of our founding fathers was known for helping others succeed,” said Steve Dohner who independently owns and operates Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Dayton. “When we heard about the need at the Iams Homestead Museum and property we thought this would be a great way to follow Benjamin Franklin's lead especially since he is so tied to U.S. history.”

Ralph Kuester who is on the board of directors at the Trotwood-Madison Historical Society said, “Working bathrooms are essential these days and with our festival coming up, the handicapped accessible bathrooms are a necessity. We are so thankful to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.”

So the company with the namesake associated with American history is pleased to be able to help this local historic site and keep things running smoothly for many years to come.
